To our valued authors, booksellers, reviewers, and customers:
In the wake of the global COVID-19 pandemic, our entire staff—in both the US and the UK—is working remotely. At this time our warehouse remains open, printing presses are operational, and we are working hard on behalf of all our books—shipping new releases to bookstores and distributors (physical and online), securing new media, arranging virtual author events, and promoting titles through our social channels and our website.
To satisfy the need for digital content for remote learning, we are working with library aggregators to support their plans to provide expanded access for educators. While each arrangement is slightly different, all HUP titles purchased by institutions now include free upgrades from single-user to multi-user access through June 30, 2020.
Despite the drastic change in the current marketplace, our work continues. Our acquiring editors are commissioning new manuscripts and welcome submissions from authors and literary agents. HUP’s sub-rights department is hard at work placing translation and audio rights with partners around the world. Our production team is making new books ready to be released in the coming months. The accounting department is processing royalty checks and invoices, and our IT staff is ensuring that we have all the digital tools we need to work remotely. We will soon release our Autumn/Winter 2020 catalog, and planning has begun in earnest for our Spring/Summer 2021 list. As we find our way forward in this challenging time, we assure you that we are doing everything in our power to find creative and innovative solutions to support your work.
We thank all our authors who have entrusted us with their books during these unprecedented times. We are also deeply grateful to our global partners, reviewers, readers, and colleagues in the publishing world everywhere who continue to work with us while enduring hardships both personal and professional.
